One critical factor that sets C&C apart from other boutique agencies is the first-class pedigree of our Leadership Team. With solid years of Big PR Agency, Client-side and Media experience behind them, each member of C&C’s Leadership is a PR Guru in their own right. Together we are a force to be reckoned with!
Cowan & Company has affiliates in Montreal and Vancouver, as well as a talented pool of associates who are hand-picked for each project with optimal results in mind.
“As a self-proclaimed ‘PR Geek’ Cowan & Company is a dream come true for me. I get to work with the best and brightest marketing minds in Canada on the best and brightest brands in the world. I’m constantly pinching myself at the wicked work we get to do and the amazing results we achieve.”
With more than 15 years experience in the communications industry, Cathy has earned a stellar reputation for creating strategic communications that get results. Cathy created C&C in 2003 as an alternative agency for big brands who want big-agency thinking & results without the big-agency baggage and price tag. C&C was also created with fellow PR Geeks in mind: who want to continue doing “big agency” caliber work but with a better life-work balance.
As the hands-on President of Cowan & Company, Cathy’s big-picture thinking contributes to the success of every C&C client. Highlights include assisting with development of L’Oréal Paris’ branded content & integrations for Canadian Idol, developing brand activation strategies for L’Oréal Paris’ sponsorship of Toronto Fashion Week for 18 seasons, assisting with the development of Lancome’s Mille Femmes campaign recognizing the top 1000 creative women in Toronto, developing the award-winning Eggstra Energy Moms Contest with the Egg Farmers of Ontario, bringing Diane Keaton to Canada to promote L’Oréal Paris Age Perfect skincare….(Editor’s Note: there are too many highlights to list! I love them all! Check out our Case Studies for more examples of the wicked work we get to do.)
Before founding C&C, Cathy held senior management positions with some of Canada’s largest PR firms where she created and implemented marketing communications strategies for industry leaders such as Nintendo, Cisco Systems, Digital Equipment Corporation, Star Choice and Expedia.ca. She has a BA from the University of Western Ontario and MBA from the University of Leicester Management Centre.
“I firmly believe in the old adage of ‘love what you do and the rest will follow’. We have amazing clients at C&C and every day brings excitement and the opportunity to flex our creative muscle. Nothing is more satisfying than managing a campaign from start to finish and then basking in the first-class results with our clients.”
Margaret has more than 15 years of experience in the communications industry where she has enjoyed success on both the client- and agency-side. She originally started off her career as a journalist and editor for a number of Canada’s leading trade publications – giving her first-hand insight into creating strategic media relations campaigns that appeal to media’s unique needs.
Prior to joining C&C in 2003, Margaret held client-side PR roles with global communications mandates. She has also worked with some of Canada’s leading communications firms on a range of clients including Sony, Packard Bell NEC, Loblaws, CIBC, PC Financial, Toshiba, and The Canadian Space Agency.
Margaret holds a diploma in Journalism from Durham College.
“After all these years in PR, there is still nothing more rewarding than coming up with the aha moment in a strategic brainer, implementing the program and then forwarding the outstanding media results to our clients. I still get a high from the positive expletives that come from the client after they have seen the clips.”
