TORONTO – September 9, 2016 – L’Oréal Paris today announced the inaugural Canadian Women of Worth program to recognize extraordinary women making a beautiful difference in their communities. The signature philanthropic program embodies the L’Oréal Paris belief that ‘Every Woman Is Worth It’ by elevating and celebrating women who find beauty in giving back. To support inspiring women who are making a difference, the public is encouraged to nominate exceptional Canadian women volunteers until November 28 at womenofworth.ca

The Canadian grant program is inspired by L’Oréal Paris USA’s Women of Worth program that has honoured 100 women over the past decade who selflessly volunteer their time and serve their communities. Each year, extraordinary women are chosen from thousands of U.S. nominations and honoured for the significant impact they have made across a variety of admirable causes. Women of Worth are advocates for health challenges, education, and champions for women in need, among many other causes.
In addition to providing Canadian Honourees with a total of $110,000 in financial grants to support their organizations, the Women of Worth program will provide a platform for Canadian women to promote their causes and create new pathways for their philanthropic endeavors to grow and serve even more people. Women of Worth will offer marketing support, provide tools and training, and facilitate networking with top decision makers, leaders and influencers to help Honourees make a greater impact. Over the past decade, the resulting ripple effect for the Honourees in the U.S. includes dramatic increases in volunteers, accolades from government and media, passing of legislation, and expansion of their organizations.

CALL FOR NOMINATIONS: 2017 WOMEN OF WORTH
The 2017 Canadian Women of Worth program, conducted in partnership with Points of Light, the world’s largest volunteer service organization, will start accepting nominations on September 20, 2016 through November 28, 2016. Following a rigorous review, the pool of applicants will be narrowed down to ten Honourees who will each be awarded a $10,000 grant for her non-profit cause. One of these Honourees, chosen by an esteemed judging panel and announced at the awards gala, will be selected as the National Honouree and awarded an additional $10,000 grant for a total of $20,000 to support her organization. All of the 2017 Honourees will be recognized on March 8, International Women’s Day, at a star-studded awards ceremony hosted by L’Oréal Paris in Toronto.
