1. This is What Self Care REALLY Means, Because it’s Not All Salt Baths and Chocolate Cake by Brianna Wiest
The conversation around self-care seems to be a reoccurring theme amongst many conversations had in recent years. We tell ourselves…we tell each other, that we deserve to make time for ourselves, to do what makes us happy, to dare I say it ‘be selfish’. Reading the article by Brianna Wiest put the whole topic in a bigger context – that instead of looking at self-care as a temporary solution to the daily issues we face, we should use it as a tool to eliminate the problem at the root. It’s a powerful reminder that putting yourself first on a regular basis is neither selfish, nor unnecessary – but ultimately will contribute positively across all facets of your life.
1. Don’t Sweat the Small Stuff; and it’s all Small Stuff – by Richard Carlson
Absolutely loved this book, not only for the endless messages (more on that after) – but that it was easy to digest with each point identified and explained within 1-2 pages. There is something in this book for everyone, and more than likely you will resonate with many of the examples. Can be read cover to cover, or at random – the message will come out all the same. Knowing that we create our own reality through the numerous issues that plague us on a daily basis and really understanding exactly what these issues are is the way this book will get to you. Read a few pages. Digest it. Put it away. Repeat!
